Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing Recognizes its 2017-2018 Scholarship Recipients
On an otherwise tragic day in the USA, I attended an event at CCV organized by the Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing to recognize its 2017-2018 scholarship recipients and supporting sponsors.
I was honored to meet Bret Fowler (pictured below), this year’s recipient of the Perkins Law Annual Scholarship. A native of Staunton, VA (home of one of my favorite restaurants, Mrs. Rowe’s Family Restaurant), Bret works at St. Mary’s Hospital while maintaining a full course load at the College. A hectic schedule that allows little free time, but her passion for nursing and helping others was clearly evident as we talked during lunch.
Bret is well on her way to a promising career in nursing, and it is gratifying to have played a small role in helping her pursue her dreams in her chosen profession. For me, this is “impact investing” at its best, and I look forward to supporting this scholarship program for years to come.
