Lest anyone think that opening a franchised business is a guarantee of success, consider the fate of Three Guys Pizza Pies in Short Pump. The restaurant opened at the Towne Center West shopping center in September 2013 only to close in April 2014. Is this a temporary closure while management regroups? Was it a casualty of a poor location choice (several restaurants and retail businesses have met a similar fate in that shopping center while others have managed to succeed to some degree). Were there other fundamental problems with the operation of that particular location or did the problem stem from a flaw in the business model of the franchise system itself? Tough to say, but fortunately, the owners of the now-closed location have a second Three Guys Pizza Pies location in the Woodlake area. I wish them much success.
