Recruiting and retaining a talented team is just as important for small businesses as it is for professional sports organizations.  I’ve had recent conversations with several local entrepreneurs who shared their current challenges and frustrations with staff turnover.  What can a small business owner do to promote a greater sense of loyalty and engagement from employees?  Simply increasing compensation or offering more benefits may not be feasible, nor may it actually make a meaningful difference to your team.  Business owners need to be creative, flexible, and committed to the entire life cycle of the employment relationship (beginning, middle, and end).  Here’s a short article with a few suggestions.
